Objective:

To translate, adapt, and psychometrically validate the DREEM questionnaire for assessing students’ perceptions of their educational environment in Hungary.

Approach:
    Key Findings:
    • The Hungarian DREEM demonstrated excellent internal consistency (Cronbach’s α = 0.95).
    • Good to excellent temporal stability was observed (ICC range: 0.77–0.91).
    • Confirmatory factor analysis provided partial support for the original five-factor structure.
    • The overall mean DREEM score was 135.0, indicating a generally positive perception of the learning environment.
    Interpretation:

The Hungarian version of the DREEM is reliable and useful for assessing students’ perceptions of the learning environment, but construct validity should be interpreted cautiously due to partial support for the original factor structure.

    Limitations:
    • Confirmatory factor analysis provided only partial support for the original five-factor structure.
    • Construct validity should be interpreted cautiously.
    Conclusion:

The validated Hungarian DREEM can support institutional evaluation, national benchmarking, and international comparison in medical and health professions education.
